Rescon Gets Involved with Building on Hope

May 10, 2012

build on hope logoThis week Rescon employees pitched in on the most recent community project spearheaded by Building on Hope. The project encompassed a $250,000 renovation to Girls Inc. Manchester, NH facility. In the spirit of extreme home makeover, the entire renovation was to take place over two weeks and enlist the help of hundreds of volunteers.

Rescon was called in by Greg Rehm of Liberty Hill Construction to see if we could help solve some water problems in the finished basement area. Rescon volunteered labor and donated the equipment to install one of our basement waterproofing systems. The energy and enthusiasm on the project was amazing. Hundreds of workers, all donating there time for a great cause. It was a fantastic feeling to be part of this very impressive community project.

Girls IncThe Girls Inc. building in Manchester is a 27-year old former church located at 340 Varney Street in Manchester that was in need of major renovations, repairs and cosmetic work.

Girls Inc. offers a wide variety of services and programs for girls, their families and community members. Each day approximately 100 at-risk girls attend the Manchester location and benefit from a program that handles challenging issues facing girls each day, ranging from personal safety, economic literacy, and media messages to health concerns. Beyond the enrichment and personal development programs, each evening Girls Inc. provides 50-60 girls with a hot, nutritious meal in a safe, family friendly environment.

Every two years, Building on Hope takes on a new challenge – organizing volunteers, collecting resources and focusing attention on a specific task to be completed over the course of a couple weeks with volunteer labor and donated goods.
