Wall Cracks
Foundation wall cracks are the most common source of seepage in poured concrete foundations. They are most often caused by stress, settling, or shrinkage during the concrete curing process.
In general, most cracks run from the top of the foundation wall to the bottom. They also, in most instances, continue through the wall, making wall cracks susceptible to leakage. If your basement is finished and it's not possible to see the walls, close examination of the wall exterior can typically reveal these crack locations. All crack repairs are performed from the inside of the basement and usually only require minor removal of finished wall products such as drywall or paneling.
The repair process we use is called Epoxy/Urethane Injection. The process involves sealing the crack on its inside face with an epoxy paste and injecting an Epoxy or Urethane material that penetrates through the crack to the outside soil. The material adheres to the concrete inside the crack and forms a barrier against water penetration.
Varying site conditions can determine which injection process is right for you. Our office will recommend the proper repair based on each specific problem.
